Renal tubular acidosis in a mare - a case report

Renal tubular acidosis was diagnosed on the basis of clinical signs, laboratory examinations and clinical tests in a 5-year-old, highly pregnant Arabian thoroughbred mare. The condition was corrected by first intravenous and then oral administration of sodium bicarbonate. The ion status had to be corrected with oral potassium chloride.
