In three year trials significantly higher nitrate content (145.1 mg NO3-.kg/l) was determined in potato tubers from drier and warmer lower regions in comparison with traditional potato localities of Czech Republic of higher regions (114.4 mg NO3-.kg/l). There were found highly significant differences of nitrate contents among analysed varieties. In seven analysed varieties the highest nitrate content was determined in Impala variety (204.5 mg NO3-.kg/l), the lowest in Agria variety (70.3 mg NO3-.kg/l). The greatest influence on nitrate content had the year period. Our results did not confirmed influence of soil and environmental conditions of higher and lower situated regions of Czech Republic on glycoalkaloid content.
