Biological value of hen hatching eggs with different porphyrin content
1999
Malec, H. (Akademia Rolnicza, Krakow (Poland))
Out of 1260 Shaver Minibro eggs, 630 dark eggs and 630 eggs with decreased pigment content were selected. 30 eggs from each group were studied organoleptically and physically, while the others were incubated in REFORM-Poldrob hatching apparatuses. Biological and embryopathological analyses were performed using conventional methods by recording embryo death in successive incubation periods and some pathological changes in the post-hatching offal. Shell colour was evaluated using reflectometer. X-ray microanalysis was employed for a detailed examination of shell microstructure in both groups. Shells and their sections were analysed using energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry and scanning electron microscopy
