Review of the research and development activities in the vegetable sector in Trinidad and Tobago

The review examines agricultural research and development activities in the vegetable sector over the last 15 years. An attempt was made to prioritise 19 vegetable crops selected for the review. Most of the specific research activities focused on the top ten crops, with green corn and green pigeon peas receiving the most attention. Research activities with respect to the various aspects of agronomy, pests and diseases, crop improvement and post harvest techniques are discussed. Those areas that received the most attention, as well as those that were apparently neglected, are also discussed.
