A socio-economic analysis of the overgrazing problem in Zimbabbwe's communal areas
1996
Guveya, E. | Chikandi, S.
The current system of grazing management is neither efficient, equitable nor sustainable. An analysis of alternative grazing strategies shows that tradable grazing rights, progressive tax and community grazing management are potential options that can be adopted. The implementation of these alternatives may result in smaller cattle herd sizes and this may be in direct concflict with farmers' objecties of wanting to keep more cattle.
