Sensitivity of two Greek eggplant varieties [Solanum melongena L.] and the wild species Solanum sisymbriifolium Lam. to Verticillium wilt

English. The sensitivity of two eggplant varieties (Tsakoniki and Langada) and the wild species Solanum sisymbriifolium Lam. to Verticillium wilt was studied during a two year period. Uniform plants were transplanted into plastic pots containing peat mixed with V. dahliae inoculum grown in perlite-corn meal medium. Disease index was regressed to height and to the fresh and dry weight of plants. Correlation and regression analysis indicated that both eggplant varieties and the wild species were in a various degree sensitive to Verticillium wilt

[E' stata studiata la suscettibilita' di due varieta' di melanzana (Tsakoniki e Langada) e della specie selvatica Solanum sisymbrifolium Lam. all'avvizzimento da Verticillium, per un periodo di due anni. Piante uniformi venivano trapiantate in vasi di plastica contenenti torba miscelata con inoculo di V. dahliae sviluppato su un substrato di perlite-farina di mais. L'indice di gravita' della malattia e' stato messo in regressione con l'altezza e il peso fresco e secco delle piante. Le analisi di correlazione e regressione hanno posto in evidenza che tanto le varieta' di melanzana quanto la specie selvatica erano sensibili a vario grado all'avvizzimento da Verticillium]
