Sphaeropsis sapinea and Cenangium ferruginosum attacks in artificial pine stands of Trentino [Pinus nigra Arnold.]

English. Severe shoot and branches dieback were observed in about 700 ha of artificial stands of P. nigra in Trentino, where nearly 11.000 mc were selled. In 8 transects, 35% of trees appeared quite completely dried, 21% with about half crown killed, S. sapinea and C. ferruginosum were found on most of the dying trees. The action of these weak parasites was enhanced by the poor site conditions and by the hydric stress periods, which occurred in the last years, 96-97. The two parasites proved to be good indicators of stress situation and may act as agents of the natural evolution towards more natural stands

Nel 1988 circa 700 ha di pinete artificiali di pino nero in Trentino sono state interessate da disseccamenti, che hanno portato al taglio forzoso di circa 11.000 mc di legname. Dai rilievi compiuti in 8 transect e' emerso che il 35% delle piante esaminate presentava chiome disseccate quasi completamente, il 21% con valori di disseccamento compresi fra 31 e 60%. La maggior parte delle piante danneggiate risultavano colonizzate da Sphaeropsis sapinea e Cenangium ferruginosum. L'azione dei due deboli parassiti e' risultata favorita dalle condizioni stazionali estremamente sfavorevoli e soprattutto dai numerosi periodi di deficit idrico che si sono ripetuti negli ultimi anni. I due funghi appaiono come indicatori di forti stress idrici e come agenti della naturale evoluzione di questi soprassuoli artificiali verso cenosi piu' stabili ed in equilibrio
