The use of growth regulators in the cultivation of Bougainvillea spp. and Nerium oleander as pot plants
1997
Rifaki, N.
Soil drench applications of Paclobutrazol and Cycocel applied once or twice at a 2 week interval under short days on three Boungainvillea sp. cultivars, Alexandra, Dania, and Amethystos, produced plants with short lateral shoots and short internodes in all cultivars compared to non treated plants. Flowering was promoted in Paclobutrazol treatments but not in Cycocel treatments. Visual plant quality was promoted in Cycocel treatments, while Paclobutrazol especially at high concentrations had a negative effect on the visual plant quality. Potted Nerium oleander plants were treated with three growth regulators in order to reduce plant growth and produce compact pat plants. Cycocel and Alar were used as foliar spray in various concentrations 0, 2,000, 3,000 and 4,000 ppm and in three different application rates 2, 4 and 8 times in a 4 week period.
