English. Mycorrhiza is a symbiosis that occurs between the roots of some plants and fungal hyphae. There are two fundamental types of mycorrhizal interactions: ectomycorrhizae and endomycorrhizae. The first one are typical of woody plants and are mainly used for reafforestation. In biotecnology, the most used endomycorrhiza is the arbuscular mycorrhizae (AM), that occurs both on woody and on herbaceous plants. The use of AM allows a reduction in chemical fertilization and in the use of pesticides and increases plant growth. Both kinds of mycorrhizae can associate in symbiosis with an Actinomyces in order to increase nitrogen availability for the plant. The current applicability of mycorrhizae will probably be widened, but some problems have to be solved: the impossibility of producing arbuscular fungi in the absence of the host plant and the complexity of the interactions that other organisms can establish in nature with mycorrhizae, affecting their functional characters

Due sono i tipi fondamentali di interazione micorrizica: le ectomicorrize e le endomicorrize. Le prime sono caratteristiche delle piante forestali e sono utilizzate in prevalenza per il rimboschimento. Tra le endomicorrize, le piu' usate in biotecnologia sono le micorrize arbuscolari (AM), che coinvolgono piante sia erbacee, sia arboree. L'uso delle AM permette la riduzione di fertilizzanti e di pesticidi e migliora la crescita della pianta.Entrambi i tipi di micorriza possono essere in simbiosi con un Attinomicete, contribuendo cosi' ad incrementare la disponibilita' di azoto per la pianta. L'attuale campo applicativo delle micorrize potra' essere ampliato, ma dovranno prima essere risolti alcuni problemi: l'impossiblita' di produrre i funghi endomicorrizici arbuscolari in assenza della pianta e le complesse interazioni che, in natura, altri organismi possono stabilire con la micorriza, alterandone la funzionalita'
