Effect of sex on the biochemical profile of broiler chicken

English. [The trial was conducted on 56 broilers belonging to the Cobb 500 genotype. The blood sampling, at about 2 kg live weight (39 days of age), was carried out on subjects of both sexes, at fasting since 2 h. Males showed higher body weight, weight gain and feed intake (P0.01). At blood level, triglycerid and creatinine values were significantly higher (P0.01) in females than in males, while the latter exhibited significantly higher (P0.01) levels of glucose, urea and uric acid(P0.05). Show more [+] Less [-]Italian. La prova e' stata effettuata su 56 polli appartenenti al tipo genetico Cobb 500. Il prelievo ematico, effettuato ad un peso medio di 2 kg (39 giorni di eta'), e' stato realizzato su soggetti di entrambi i sessi, a digiuno da 2 ore. I soggetti di sesso maschile hanno messo in luce piu' elevati (P0,01) valori ponderali, accrescimento e consumo di alimento. A livello del sangue, il tenore di trigliceridi e creatinina sono risultati sensibilmente (P0,01) piu' elevati nelle femmine rispetto ai maschi, mentre questi ultimi hanno presentato tassi significativamente superiori (P0,01) di glucosio, urea ed acido urico (P0,05). Le attivita' enzimatiche AST e ALT non si sono diversificate nell'ambito dei due gruppi. Assenza di variazioni e' stata riscontrata anche per quanto riguarda il quadro minerale, in particolare per calcio, fosforo e potassio
