[Three different sources of inoculum (fistulated cattle, dromedaries with stomach tube and slaughtered dromedaries) were utilized in order to evaluate gas production in 5 species of desert alophite shrubs, harvested in two periods. Every inoculum shows peculiar fermentation kinetics, with significant interactions with feed type. With inoculum from dromedaries with stomach tube slow fermentations are obtained, with highest gas production, while with cattle inoculum lower productions are obtained, with high fermentation speed; inoculum from slaughtered dromedaries shows intermediate characteristics. Gas productions and kinetics obtained with the three inocula confirm, as well known by local people, good fermentation characteristics of Atriplex halimus and Salsola vermiculata]

Italian. Sono state utilizzate tre differenti fonti di inoculo (bovini fistolati, dromedari macellati ed intubati per via esofagea) per valutare la produzione di gas in 5 specie di arbusti alofiti desertici, raccolti in due periodi. Ciascun inoculo mostra cinetiche fermentative caratteristiche, con significative interazioni con il tipo di alimento. Con l'inoculo di dromedari intubati si ottengono fermentazioni lente con le massime produzioni di gas, mentre con l'inoculo di bovini si ottengono produzioni minori con velocita' fermentative elevate; l'inoculo di dromedari macellati presenta caratteristiche intermedie. Le produzioni e cinetiche di gas ottenute con i tre inoculi confermano, come conosciuto dai locali, le buone caratteristiche fermentative di Atriplex halimus e Salsola vermiculata
