Relationship between radiation and growth of Jerusalem artichoke cultivated in Mediteranean conditions [Helianthus tuberosus L. - Basilicata]

English. The study was conducted in 1996 at Metaponto (MT) (lat. 40 deg 24' N; long 16 deg 48' E) in the farm of the Agronomical Research Institute of Bari. The purpose of this paper is to determine the relationships between growth and regime radiative of the Jerusalem artichoke cultivated with a water irrigation level in order to re-establish 50% of calculated maximum evapotranspiration (ETM). During the biological cycle, measurements in continuous of the incoming and intercepted solar radiation by the crop and, every two weeks, incident (PARi) and transmitted to the soil (PARt) of the photosynthetically active radiation, leaf area index (LAI) and dry matter accumulation (dm) were taken. These measurements were used in order to determine some radiative parameters: climatic efficiency (gamma), extinction coefficient (k), radiation use efficiency (RUE) and radiation energetic yield (E). The value of k, RUE and E were 0.475, 2.06 g MJ*[-1) and 0.0079, respectively. This study confirmed the high adaptability of the crop in the Mediterranean conditions, also in suboptimal water conditions

La ricerca, condotta nel 1996 a Metaponto (MT) presso l'azienda agraria dell'Istituto Sperimentale Agronomico di Bari, aveva l'obiettivo di determinare le relazioni tra accrescimento e regime radiativo del topinambur, coltivato con regime idrico pari al 50% dell'ETM calcolata. Nel corso del ciclo biologico sono state effettuate misure in continuo della radiazione solare (Rg) e intercettata dalla coltura (Rgi) e, a intervalli bisettimanali, della radiazione fotosinteticamente attiva incidente (PARi) e trasmessa al suolo (PARt), dell'indice fogliare (LAI) e dell'accumulo di sostanza secca (ss). Dette misure sono servite a determinare alcuni parametri radiativi: efficienza climatica (gamma), coefficiente di estinzione della luce (k), efficienza di utilizzazione della radiazione intercettata (RUE) e rendimento energetico (E). Il valore di k e' stato 0.475; RUE ed E sono risultati, rispettivamente, 2.06 g MJ*[-1) e 0.0079. Questo stdio ha confermato l'elevata adattabilita' della coltura all'ambiente mediterraneo, anche in condizioni idriche non ottimali
