The different effect of ammonium nitrate (AN) and calcium nitrate (CN) fertilization on the yield as well as on calcium, magnesium, nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium content in the herbage has been estimated on the basis of long-term, strict grassland experiments situtated in Mazowieckie voivodeship, on light mineral soils, on the background of nitrogen dose and resulting effect of liming. The possibility of reduction of nitrogen dose (better effect on the yield) and particularly the counteraction of soil decalcitation as well as environment acidification equilibrates the higher cost of calcium nitrate
