The effect of mineral and organic-mineral fertilization on the organic carbon (C org) and total nitrogen (N tot) content as well as on the C:N ratio in the soil of a permanent, sprinkled meadow was studied after 10 years of an experiment. Obtained results confirmed the positive effect of high doses of mineral fertilizers (N-360, P2O5-160, K2O-180 kg/ha), beside the organic-mineral fertilization, on C org, N tot and on C:N ratio in the soil of an experiment. High doses of fertilizers, particularly of nitrogen, increased the amount of soil organic matter. Liming is recommended to counteract acidification of the soil surface layers induced by the high doses of mineral fertilizers
