Lead content in meadow plants

Lead content has been analysed in the sward and grass samples taken from meadows and pastures of Dolina Odry, Zulawy Wislane, Mazowsze and Male Pieniny. Lead content in plants and soils depended on the site of sampling and usually correlated with the content of other heavy metals in the studied material. Lead content in samples of cocksfoot (Dactylis glomerata L.) and perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne L.) depended on the plants' growth phase. Moreover, 30 plant species from Falenty meadow have been studied and their species-specific coefficiens have been determined. The highest lead content from among the studied species were found in: water thistle (Cirsium oleraceum (L.) Scop.), stinging nettle (Urtica dioica L.), curly dock (Rumex crispus L.), perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne L.) and in bent grass (Agrostis alba L.)
