The capacity of agricultural production in Polish voivodeships has been show in the view of their various economic situation. The variability between the voivodeships according to their contribution to the creation of gross added value in agriculture, production of 8 main agricultural products in total value of their purchase were presented. The paper also deals with the problem of supporting rural areas and the need to activate agricultural policy and its differentiation for 3 macro-regions
