Time used by different species of ground-nesting solitary bees (Hymenoptera, Apoidea) to build and furnish a nest

The observations were performed during three years on the following species: Melita leporina Panz., M. hispanica Friese, Rhophitoides canus Ev., Amegilla quadrifasciata Vill., Anthophora quadrimaculata Panz., Eucera longicornis L., E. interrupta Baer, Tetralonia debtata Klug., Andrena ovulata Kirby, A.gelriae v.d. Vecht and Melitturga clavicornis Latr. It was stated that one pollen load was collected by different ground-nesting bee species during 8-58 minutes (the shortest time by Rhophitoides and the longest time by Andrena). A pollen load was placed in a cell during 5-15 minutes. These bees used 4-21 days to build and to furnish a whole nest (Anthophora and Amegilla - the least days, Eucera and Melitturga - the most days)
