To give a first indication about the amount of mixture applied that depose itself on the external surface of an orchard sprayer during treatments, 2 trials were carried out. To evaluate the part of the sprayer more exposed to product deposit, an orchard sprayer has been wrapped with plastic sheets and, in different working conditions, the amount of product collected in the different parts of the machine was determined. In a second trial it has been determined how constructive characteristics and operating modality may act on the examined aspect. These last trials were carried out using an orchard sprayer with a front fan and one with a rear fan, settling Petri dishes and adsorbent papers on the points of the machine more exposed to product deposit. The experimentation pointed out that the largest amount of product residues (93%) is on a strip around the fan and in general in the rear of the sprayer and that on average the front position of the fan determines an higher (7.5 micronl/cm*[2) min, +20%) deposit of product on the machine. Moreover, the use of low pressures increases (+30%) the amount deposit of product on the sprayer
