Agri-environmental programmes in the European Union and in Poland

The paper reviewed the objectives and realization of agri-environmental programmes in the EU. On this background the pilot agri-environmental projects in Poland were discussed. They shall be implemented in 2002-06 in the following areas: river valleys of the Narew and Biebrza, river valley of Warta, Warminsko-Mazurski and Podkarpacki regions. The programmes will cover ca 30 000 ha of land and provide 3 500 farmers with payments for the environmental services
