Field experiments were conducted in a 1995-97 in a 13-14-year old winter rape monoculture. The aim of the study was to examine the influence of different methods of post-harvest soil tillage against the background of varying pre-sowing tillage on selected properties of soil and weed infestation of spring rape. Modification of post-harvest tillage and depth of pre-sowing ploughing for winter rape did not vary in most cases physical and chemical properties of soil. Deepening of pre-sowing ploughing from 20 to 30 cm increased weed infestation of spring rape, but reduced the content of organic carbon of soil
