Extraction of natural antioxidants from the wine industry waste
2000
L'Hosine, Y.
The present study was carried out in order to develop economical, efficient, and environmental friendly methods to exploit agro-industrial waste, such as the solid waste of wine production. In order to achieve the separation of natural antioxidants, solvent extractions were performed and the main extracts were screened for their antioxidant activity using the 1. Linoleic acid-b-Carotene couple oxidation test; 2. The rancimat test; 3. The folin-ciocalceu Test. The three best extracts were then selected and further fractionated. The resulting fractions were evaluated for their antioxidant activity test. Chromatographic profiles by reserve phase high performance liquid chromatography were studied for ethyl acetate, dichloromethane: methanol [1:1] and potassium hydroxide 1 percent in water extracts and their respective fractions. Gallic acid, caffeic acid, p.coumaric, syringic acid, catechin acid, cinnamic acid, tryptophol, quercetin, keampherol and myricetin were identified and expressed as quercetin and gallic acid
