Use of selected honeybees as a condition of profitable apiary management

The research results show that advance in biological sciences is the main condition enabling profitable management of Polish apiaries after integration with the European Union. Compared with other countries bee management in Poland is very labour-consuming and characterized by low efficiency, which is connected with differences in hive structure, labour organization and technologies used. The introduction into Polish apiaries of queens produced after many years of breeding and selection, showing many positive features, enables more efficient and profitable use of honeybees
