Sumarizing the results presented one may conclude that polymorphism of MyoD genes - MYOG, MYF3 and MYF5 - identified in their non-coding regions was observed within some pig breeds and pig breed crosses maintained in Poland. Frequencies of homozygous MyoD genotypes were not equally represented and differed significantly between breeds. A thinner fat at different points of measurement and lower fat content, as well as higher meat deposition in loin, ham and carcass were recorded in gilts of genotype TT at RYR1 locus and simultaneously genotype AB at MYOG locus as compared to barrows of CC and BB genotypes, respectively. AA or BB genotypes at the MYF5/Hin/I locus in gilt increased the loin eye area and meat content in carcass comparing to BB genotype. Similar effect was not observed with barrows
