Performance of early maturing peach in relation to planting density and Y shaped training system [Prunus persica (L.) Batsch - Sicily]

English. The performance of peach trees was investigated in relation to training system (Y and Tatura trellis) and planting density (1,000, 1,250, 2,000, 2,500 trees/ha). A positive linear relationship between number of trees per hectare and productivity (t/ha) was observed, while there were no productivity differences between Y and Tatura trellis. Cumulative 1-4 year production was highest for the highest (2,500 trees/ha) planting densities. The highest production was reached at the second year for all planting densities and then sharply decreased for densities higher than 1,000 trees/ha

[E' stata studiata la risposta produttiva di piante di pesco in funzione del sistema di allevamento (Y trasversale e Tatura trellis) e della densita' di impianto (1.000, 1.250, 2.000 e 2500 piante/ha). E' stata osservata una correlazione positiva fra il numero di piante per ettaro e la resa produttiva (t/ha), mentre non si riscontravano differenze di resa fra Y trasversale e Tatura trellis. La produzione cumulata da uno a quattro anni e' risultata massima nel caso della densita' di impianto piu' alta (2.500 piante/ha). La produzione piu' elevata si raggiungeva al secondo anno nel caso di tutte le densita' di impianto e successivamente scendeva in misura sensibile nelle densita' superiori a 1.000 piante/ha]
