The relationship between the number of fruit set and the number of leaves on sweet pepper plants pruned to one main shoot was investigated. It was found that reducing the remaining leaves controls the development of the leaf blade. Limiting the number of leaves caused a significant decrease in the basic growth indices (LAI, LFR, and LAFR), while removing the fruit sets resulted in their slight increase. A strong influence of defoliation on the conditions of irradiation in PAR range in the plant profile was found out
