Energy and non structural carbohydrates in prepubertal-heifer diet

The effect of feeding level and NSC percentage in the diet for prepubertal heifers on milk yield and concentration was verified with forty-nine Italian Friesian female calves fed four diets from weaning (x = 101.4 d) to the achievement of 300 kg of BW (x = 303.0 kg). The low and the high levels of energy in diet were 0.64 and 0.69 kg of TDN/kg of DM (LE and HE, respectively). The low and the high concentrations of NSC were 22 and 26% of DM (LNSC and HNSC, respectively). No effect was observed for growth before puberty, age and BCS before calving. Subsequently, no difference was observed for BCS and milk yield. BW was not affected by feeding level and NSC percentage. [E' stato verificato l'effetto del livello alimentare e della percentuale di carboidrati non strutturali (NSC) nella dieta di manze in stadio prepuberale sul rendimento e la concentrazione del latte utilizzando quarantanove vitelle di razza Frisona Italiana alimentate con quattro diete dallo svezzamento ( x = 101, 4 g) al raggiungimento del PV di 300 kg ( x = 303,0 kg). I livelli basso ed elevato di energia nella dieta erano pari a 0,64 e 0,69 kg di TDN/ kg di SS (LE e HE, rispettivamente). Le concentrazioni bassa ed elevata di NSC erano pari al 22 e al 26% della SS (LNSC e HNSC, rispettivamente). Non e' stato riscontrato alcun effetto relativamente alla crescita prima della puberta', all'eta' e al BCS prima del parto. Successivamente, non sono state osservate differenze per il BCS e la resa in latte. Il PV non era influenzato dal livello alimentare e dalla percentuale di NSC. La concentrazione proteica del latte delle vacche alimentate con basso livello di energia prima della puberta' era piu' alta di quella delle vacche ad alto livello di energia]
