English. Two different trials of PCR technique were tested in order to characterise the embryos. In the first experiment 15 embryos of Piemontese breed, produced by IVF technique, were utilised, while in the second experiment 35 embryos were tested. In the first experiment 2 different probes (BRY4a Y-specific and 1,715 bovine-specific sequences) were co-amplified. In the second experiment embryo biopsies were treated with a different couple of primers (BRY4a Y-specific and CD-18) sequences. The assay seem to be extremely accurate: no incorrect results have been observed
