Voies d’amélioration des impacts environnementaux des systèmes céréaliers : une première synthèse à partir des travaux de l’INRA

Possibilities to improve environmental impacts of cereal production systems: a first synthesis from Inra research works. The present context requires a better armony between agriculture and environment, and thus agronomic research was questioned on this topic. The present paper gives the results of an inventory of possibilities to improve environmental impacts of cereal production systems. About 60 research works carried out by Inra with its professional partners was collected and categorised in three domains: input efficiency improvement, substitution of one input by another, reconception of production systems. The inventory showed three main filed of research and innovations. The first one is the variety breeding, where collection, conservation and description of genetic resources thanks to genomic tools is underlined. Secondly, systemic approaches taking into account various production factors in time and space and mobilising numerous disciplines. At last, tools for evaluation of production systems and decision tool kits are important instruments for conceiving and testing innovative production systems. However, various essential domains such crossed approaches (soils, biodiversity and production localisation) and economic and social sustainability will have to be analysed in detail. Show more [+] Less [-]Le contexte actuel requiert une meilleure harmonie entre l'agriculture et l'environnement, aussi la recherche agronomique est-elle souvent questionnée sur ses investigations en la matière. Cet article présente le résultat d'un travail d'inventaire portant sur des voies d'amélioration des impacts environnementaux en systèmes céréaliers. Une soixantaine de travaux conduits par l’INRA en relation avec ses partenaires du monde agricole ont été répertoriés et classés en trois grands domaines : amélioration de l’efficience des intrants, substitution d’un intrant par un autre, reconception des systèmes de production. L'inventaire fait apparaître trois grands champs de recherche et d’innovations. En premier lieu, l'amélioration variétale, et en ce domaine l’importance de la collecte, conservation et description des ressources génétiques grâce aux apports des outils d’analyse du génome est soulignée. En deuxième lieu, les démarches systémiques prenant en compte les divers facteurs de production, dans le temps et dans l’espace et mobilisant de nombreux champs disciplinaires. Enfin, les outils d'évaluation des systèmes de production et d’aide à la décision, instruments importants pour la conception ou l'expérimentation de systèmes de production innovants. Cependant, divers domaines essentiels comme les approches transversales (sols, biodiversité, localisation des productions) et la durabilité économique et sociale devront être traités plus en détail ; ce premier inventaire ne cherchait pas à être exhaustif
