175019 CAB International, Wallingford (United Kingdom) eng | Gordon, I. (ed.)
This book focusses on the progress made in the management of reproduction of farm animals. It reviews these developments and suggests which technologies can be used commercially or in research. It discusses artificial insemination, semen sexing, embryo transfer, in vitro embryo production and the control of oestrus and ovulation. There are also chapters addressing the control of postpartum ovarian activity, seasonal breeding, multiple births, litter size, pregnancy testing, parturition and the onset of puberty. Developments in cloning and transgenic animal production and the suppression of reproductive activity are also discussed. This book could serve as a textbook for advanced students of animal and veterinary sciences. It contains diagrams, black and white pictures and graphs to illustrate the text.
