Georgian forest is a natural resource of special value for the country, which covers about 40% of the country's territory. Pests belong to the group of biological factors of great importance, which have a particularly negative impact on forest reforestation and its modern state. Dangerous in this regard are the primary pests, which in some years multiply en masse and cause great damage to plants, especially deciduous species. The object of study was the pest of the Picea orientalis Link. bark beetle (Ips typographus L.). Studies have shown that the pest is widespread throughout the territory of Adjara in the area of Picea orientalis Link. The bark beetle mainly damages the Picea orientalis Link. , but in some places it attacks Abies nordmanniana and pine Pinus sosnowskyi. In the spring, beetle flight begins as early as the end of April, with beetles inhabiting mostly old, fallen, barren, diseased and weakened trees, but during massive spread they also attack healthy trees. Inhabits the entire length of the stem and branches, but the optimal height of inhabiting is 8-12 meters. During the breeding season (spring-summer) the tree is first inhabited by a male, who digs a hole in the bark and prepares an enlarged wedding chamber, which attracts up to 1-3 females. The regulation of the number of bark beetle envisages timely implementation of forestry measures. Cutting down overgrown and pest-infested trees, exfoliating roots, burning bark and thin branches.
