Mining, minerals and sustainable development in South America : executive summary

The research provided the current state of mining in relation to sustainable development, and was co-ordinated by e Centro de lnvestigacion y Planificación del Medio Ambiente (CIPMA) in Chile. The participatory process, under the co-ordination of Mining Policy Research Initiative (MPRI), sought to identify the key issues and viewpoints of different stakeholders involved in regional mining issues. A regional report and five national reports convey the regional mining situation, the perspectives of the stakeholders involved, and their viewpoints on priority issues for sustainable development.
