An ethnographic survey of various categories of users (forest wardens, hunters, gatherers, holders of forest estovers, bird-catchers and women) was carried out in the wooded Ardennes mountains. It has shed light how people react to species of trees according to their knowledge, experiences, feelings and imaginary representations, which enter into the constitution of landscapes.

Une enquête ethnographique conduite dans le massif forestier de l'Ardenne, auprès de différentes catégories d'usagers, forestiers, chasseurs, cueilleurs, affouagistes, tendeurs de grives, et auprès des femmes, a permis de déceler des sensibilités particulières à l'égard de certains types de peuplement, fondées sur des savoirs, des expériences passées, des dispositions affectives, des représentations imaginaires, qui participent aussi à la constitution des paysages.
