Nine fungicides (Thiophanate methyl 70 WP, Flusilazole 40 EC, Copper hydraoxide 77 WP, Azoxystrobin 23 SC, Mancozeb 75WP, Propiconazole 25 EC, Difenoconazole 25 EC, Penconazole 10 EC and Tebuconazole 25.9 EC) and two biocontrol agents (talc formulation of Pseudomonas fluorescens Pf1 and Trichoderma BATF 39-1) were evaluated against anthracnose disease (Colletotrichum capsici) of chilli for three consecutive years (2009-2012) under field conditions. All the treatments were effective in controlling the anthracnose disease and enhancing the yield. However, flusilazole 40EC showed maximum control of the disease (51.00%) followed by Pseudomonas fluorescens Pf1 (42.99%), Tebuconazole 25.9EC (42.99%), Trichoderma BATF39-1 (35.95%), Propiconazole 25 EC (35.45%), Azozystrobin 23 SC (35.17%) and others (28.27-33.23%) as compared to untreated control. Similarly, Flusilazole recorded the highest yield (31.1 q/ha) followed by Tebuconazole (25.3 q/ha), Difenoconazole (24.3 q/ha), Pf1 (22.5 q/ha), BATF 39-1 (21.6 q/ha) and others (16.1- 19.6 q/ha) as compared to control (15.9 q/ha). Hence, Flusilazole 40EC, can be used as a best alternative chemical to manage anthracnose disease of chilli.
