Study of prospects for the development of the aroma and alpha hop world market | Исследование перспектив развития мирового рынка ароматических и горьких сортов хмеля

English. According to the Rosstat data, as of 2022, the Chuvash Republic is the leader among the Russian regions in terms of the area of fruitful hop plantations. Aromatic and bittersweet varieties of the crop, which account for about 90% of the area of hop-gardens, are traditionally cultivated in the region. To identify the prospects for the further production development of different hop types, the dynamics of the world hop cultivation and the factors influencing the formation of the industry in the international stage are studied in the work. It has been revealed that the area for growing aromatic hop varieties is systematically and steadily increasing in the world: the average annual growth rate for 2017–2021 amounted to 1.7%. The areas occupied by bitter varieties of the crop are changing in different directions from year to year. However, on average over 5 years (2017-2021), the increment of them amounted to 2.7% per year. The cultivation area of aromatic hop varieties is more than twice higher than the area occupied by bitter varieties: 41.6 thousand ha and 19.4 thousand ha, respectively, as of 2021. With reference to different qualitative characteristics of hop varieties, aromatic ones are more in demand by craft breweries, and bitter ones by large brewing companies, including transnational ones. Consequently, the bitter varieties market is strongly consolidated, and the number of participants in the aromatic hop varieties market continues to expand, and this will stimulate the production development of the said hop type.

Russian. Согласно данным Росстата по состоянию на 2022 г., Чувашская Республика лидирует среди регионов России по площади плодоносящих насаждений хмеля. В регионе традиционно выращиваются ароматические и горько-ароматические сорта культуры, на долю которых приходится около 90% площадей хмельников. Для выявления перспектив дальнейшего развития производства разных типов хмеля исследованы динамика мирового хмелеводства и факторы, оказывающие влияние на формирование отрасли на международной арене. Выявлено, что в мире планомерно и устойчиво увеличиваются площади выращивания ароматических сортов хмеля: среднегодовой темп роста за 2017–2021 гг. составил 1,7%. Площади, занятые горькими сортами культуры, из года в год меняются разнонаправленно. Однако в среднем за 5 лет (2017-2021 гг.) их прирост составил 2,7% за год. Площади возделывания ароматических сортов хмеля более чем в 2 раза превышают площади, занятые горькими сортами: 41,6 тыс. га и 19,4 тыс. га соответственно по состоянию на 2021 г. С учетом различных качественных характеристик сортов хмеля, ароматические больше востребованы крафтовыми пивоварнями, а горькие - крупными пивоваренными компаниями, включая транснациональные. Следовательно, рынок горьких сортов сильно консолидирован, а число участников рынка ароматических сортов хмеля продолжает расширяться, и это будет стимулировать развитие производства указанного типа хмеля.
