The misunderstood forest
2008
Namkoong, Gene
"During his last few years as Department Head for the UBC Forest Sciences Department, Professor Namkoong was working on a book. This is not a book on population or quantitative genetics, which we all would have expected, but the relationship of humans to forests. Although there are many books examining the historical and present day conflicts over forest use, few address the underlying reasons why we have struggled with what forests are and what they mean to us. Gene continued working on the book at his home near Ashville, N.C., up until his untimely passing. (Please see the "Preface" for more background about the completion of the book). We hope you will find "The Misunderstood Forest" interesting and enjoyable." -- UBC Forest Sciences website as viewed Dec. 18, 2008: http://genetics.forestry.ubc.ca/book.html.
