Abstract: A training module provides information and guidelines to aid WIC staff in developing specific, effective food plans for clients participating in the Colorado WIC (women, infants, and children) supplemental feeding program. The material is organized among 4 principal sections: (1) a review and summary of 15 state guidelines for food package tailoring for the Colorado WIC program; (2) a discussion of special factors that should be considered in selecting individualized food packages; (3) 6 case studies depicting practical applications of food package tailoring; and (4) a review of food package tailoring procedures with respect to the 6 case studies. An appendix provides the nutrient content information of various WIC foods. Questions and answers based on information contained in the module are included throughout the text. (wz).
