Abstract: This guidebook for parents discusses the causes and dietary management of maple syrup urine disease (MSUD). This disease occurs in infants and children due to a DNA defect. Basic genetic information and detailed dietary guidelines for MSUD children are discussed. A tabulation of the content of the amino acids in strained and junior baby foods and in table foods, are included in the appendix.
