Extract: This paper focuses on the expansion and changes that characterize the soybean industry, addressing issues that influence decisions made by farmers, soybean processors, consumers, transportation operators, exporters, and policy makers. The analysis was conducted using a transshipment model to simulate flows of soybeans, and soybean meal and oil, through the stages of production, processing, and consumption. In addition, the model provided information on the most efficient number, size, and location of soybean processing facilities.
