It indicates when a horticultural commodity is usually in good or poor supply and whether the majority of the supplies are domestic or foreign. The guide answers questions such as "Are apples available in all months?" (yes) and "Can I buy strawberries in January (yes) or avocadoes in March?" (yes). The probable availability of supply of most fruit and vegetables can quickly be ascertained. An added feature is the handy consumer chart at the front of the booklet indicating when domestic fruit and vegetables are available. the basis for this guide is the 1978-82 average of rail, truck and boat unloads for fresh consumption onto 12 markets across Canada.
