Extract: The purpose of this AE report is to present some information on the current location, organization, volume handled, and marketing costs at auction markets in Illinois. A brief history of auction markets and recent trends in packers usage of auction markets are presented. In addition, a summary of a survey conducted in 1982, designed to obtain a better understanding of the current characteristics, problems and operation of these auctions, is reported.
