Abstract: A factual guidebook for the general public advances the thesis of time-calorie displacement (TCD) in obesity treatment, arguing that attainment of ideal body weight is only 1 aspect of a weight control program directed at the attainment of overal l good health. The TCD approach is based on 2 key factors, the time spent eating and the calorie content of the food, and is directed at establishing new eating patterns that will continue well beyond the period of active weight loss and will serve as a model for the entire family. Tabular caloric data, weight graphs, food intake records, recipes, and other devices and tools associated with the TCD program are given throughout the text. (wz).
