Hidden sugar

Abstract: The calories per serving of sample items in each food group are compared in a 2-page fold out for children. For example, milk and yogurt are common foods in the milk group. There are 90 calories in 1 cup of nonfat and buttermilk, compared to 140-150 calories in lowfat whole milk. Consequently, nonfat or buttermilk are the best nutritional bets. In addition, the amount of sugar in common snack foods is listed by counting the number of teaspoons in a single serving.
