Notebook of the Dr. and Mrs. David Fairchild of plants in the garden at "Place in the Woods" for the period 1907-1926. Many of the plants were new introductions to the United States. The property was sold to Dr. Edwin Atkins Merritt in 1926. Dr Merritt continued building garden at "In the Woods. The garden was sold to the Chevy Chase Recreation Association in 1954
