Abstract: A brief guide provides an overview of the vendor monitoring process for Florida WIC program staff members involved in this responsibility. The vendor monitoring process includes the separate but related processes of vendor authorization, training, monitoring, and applying sanctions (penalties) when warranted. Attention is given to vendor applications; vendor agreements; vendor training (covering WIC program overview; WIC foods; the insurance, redemption, and payment of WIC checks; compliance requirements; potential problems and preventive solutions); representative and high-risk vendor monitoring; various monitoring methods; handling vendor and participatant complaints; participant misuse of WIC checks; and vendor sanctions and hearings.
