Computer-Assisted Fan Selection for Natural Grain Drying

Presently, over 200 different fans are available commercially in Canada for use in aeration and natural grain drying systems. Matching a fan to a particular drying system requires a number of iterations. The computer package described in this article uses the system data entered by the user and matches the system data to the performance data of approximately 84 commercial fans that have been tested by a Canadian testing agency. The output of the program is the trade names of the selected fans and their operating performance. New data can be added or old data can be deleted from the fan performance data base.
