Electric mixers, slicers and choppers perform a large number of kitchen tasks. Food mixers are categorized as horizontal (used primarily for bakery mixings), or vertical mixers. Vertical mixers are bowls with a motor driven beater on a rotating shaft. This action produces a throughly mixed product. Model types are described, such as the bench model, as are some standard features. Standard equipment includes the bowl, flat beater and wire whip. Accessories and optional equipment are often available. A number of the options and accessories are described, such as the wing whip, agitator, sweet dough beater, vegetable slicer and food chopper. Food cutters include the horizontal "bowl" cutter which can blend and mix. Food choppers or grinders are used mostly to grind meat. The process is described along with typical attachment options. Food processors are new members on the cutting, mixing and chopping front. They are used most often in small operations where food is prepared for a specific order.
