The assessment of the water quality of Damodar River has been made by comparing various Physico-chemical datas with those of water quality standards. In the present study it has been found that the water is unfit for human consumption also not suitable for various activities like bathing, domestic use and irrigation etc, this might be causing a number of health hazards to human being and animals dependent on this water. Thus quality management is needed everywhere, some major steps like Ganga action plan, secondary Damodar action plan should be taken up to provide good quality water.
