Influence of various doses of fertiliser and crop geometry on growth parameters and productivity of late sown indian mustard (Brassica juncea L.)

Afield experiment was carried out at Regional Research Station, Bawal, Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar, to study the response of late sown Indian mustard (Brassica juncea L.) to varying fertilizer dose and crop geometry during the rabi season of 2015-16. The significantly higher number days to 50% flowering, days to completion of siliquae formation and days to maturity were observed in 115 % RDF (Recommended dose of fertilizer i.e. 80 kg N+30 kg P₂O₂ +20 kg K₂O₅ + 40kg Sha⁻¹) over70 %RDF however, it was statistically at par with 85 and 100 % RDF. Application of 115 % RDF recorded significantly higher leaf area index, plant height and dry matter accumulation plant⁻¹ over70 %RDFatdifferentgrowthperiodhowever,itwasstatisticallyatparwith85 %and100 %RDF.Amongdifferentcrop geometries, at different growth period 30 cm x 10 cm registered significantly higher leaf area index and plant height over closer spacing (25 cm x 25 cm) whereas, statistically superior dry matter accumulation plant⁻¹ was obtained in crop geometry of 25 cm x 25 cm over 30 cm x 10 cm.The higher grain yield was significantly higher (1370 kg ha⁻¹) with application of 115 % RDF over 70 % RDF however, it was statistically at par with 85 and 100%RDF. Among different crop geometries, 25 cm x 15 cm registered significantly higher seed yield (1461kg ha⁻¹)overrestofthecrop geometries.
