Nitrogen nutrition and mycorrhiza development

Wallander, H.
Mycorrhizal colonization of Pinus sylvestris seedlings is negatively correlated with N-concentration in shoots at different N-concentrations in the growing media. NH4 in the media has a more inhibiting effect than NO3 because it is more easily taken up by roots. The content of soluble carbohydrates in mycorrhizal roots increases with higher N-concentrations in the media. Non-mycorrhizal roots contains less carbohydrates than mycorrhizal roots.
