Colonization of weeds in Phomopsis longicolla
1997
Roy, K.W. | Ratnayake, S. | McLean, K.
Isolates of Phomopsis longicolla were recovered from surface-disinfested leaves and stems of giant ragweed (Ambrosia trifida), cocklebur (Xanthium strumarium), spotted spurge (Euphorbia maculata), and curly dock (Rumex crispus). The highest and average frequencies of isolation of P. longicolla from leaves and stems of weeds ranged from 4% to 24% and 1 to 6%, respectively. Isolates from weeds were pathogenic on soybean and produced pycnidia on inoculated stems, and all but one of the isolates caused inoculated soybean plants to senesce prematurely.
